How it works:
Burning of diesel fuel in vehicles produces greenhouse gasses of nitrogen oxides (NOx).
These harmful emissions build up in the air and produce unwanted smog and acid rain.
Before they are released, the AdBlue solution is automatically injected into a vehicle’s
exhaust system, at about 5% of diesel fuel. This process releases ammonia that helps
convert nitrogen oxide gasses into harmless nitrogen and water vapour.
Using AdBlue:
It is important to ensure sufficient levels of AdBlue in the vehicle always. When AdBlue
levels run low, a warning alert appears on the dashboard. If it runs out completely, the
vehicle will lose power, and this does not necessarily damage the engine. Once the AdBlue
tank is refilled engine performance will return to normal.
In an instance where AdBlue is accidentally added into the diesel tank, the vehicle should
not be started. The contaminated diesel tank should be emptied, and the contents discarded.
The diesel tank should then be filled with diesel fuel.
